An Indiana small business is expanding its operations and creating new jobs in Nappanee.

The company Sullivan Group, which specializes in promotional products, says they are announcing their expansion this week to coincide with National Small Business Week. They’ll be creating up to 30 new jobs for Hoosiers by 2020.

The President of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, Elaine Bedel, says small businesses like Sullivan Group play a key role in the state’s economy.

“With nearly 500,000 small businesses operating across the state, every new Hoosier job they add creates a strong and positive impact in communities throughout the state. As we celebrate National Small Business Week, we’re thrilled to celebrate Sullivan Group’s big plans for Indiana,” Bedel explains.

Founder of Sullivan Group Kerry Sullivan expresses excitement about partnering with the state of Indiana to continue their company’s growth.

“Elkhart County and Nappanee have always been supportive of our growth efforts, and we look forward to continuing to be a major employer in the area,” says Sullivan.

Indiana’s unemployment rate is at its lowest point since 2001, with Elkhart County’s unemployment rate tied for the lowest in the state at 2.8 percent. Nappanee Mayor Phil Jenkins says Sullivan Group has been a part of their city’s economic success.

“The city of Nappanee is pleased to see the growth of another local company,” says Mayor Jenkins. “Sullivan Group has been part of the Nappanee community for close to 40 years…Not only do we anticipate additional jobs for local residents, we recognize the diversity Sullivan Group brings to our economy.”

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered conditional tax credits based on the company’s job creation plans, but the company is not eligible to claim the incentives until Hoosiers are officially hired. The city of Nappanee is also offering incentives at the request of the Economic Development Corporation of Elkhart County.
