One person was killed as two roommates were shot in what appears to have been a home invasion early Thursday morning in South Bend.

Police were called to the 2200 block of S. Kendall St. on the city’s south side shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday. South Bend Police say one of the two shooting victims, 31-year-old Joseph Brown, was taken to the hospital where he died of his injuries. An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday.

The other male was treated and released and there were other people in the home at the time who were reportedly uninjured.

Two black males were reportedly seen running south from the scene of the shooting. St. Joseph County Metro Homicide says the investigation is ongoing and they have interviewed several witnesses.
