A multi-vehicle crash early Thursday morning claimed the life of a motorcyclist on C.R. 6 in Elkhart County.

Elkhart Police Sgt. Chris Snyder says the accident happened around 4:40 a.m. Thursday at C.R. 6 East and Northland, not far from the Dynamax Corporation.

Investigating officers say the motorcyclist, whose name has not been released, died at the scene after he was struck by an SUV. He was reportedly wearing a helmet and neither drugs nor alcohol appear to have been a factor in the crash, but they believe speed may have been.

C.R. 6 was blocked off for much of Thursday morning during the investigation.
