A well-known southwest Michigan winery has just purchased another well-known southwest Michigan winery.

The family-owned Round Barn Winery, Brewery, and Distillery in Baroda is the proud new owner of Tabor Hill Winery in Buchanan. The takeover is being called the largest winery purchase in Michigan history, according to the South Bend Tribune.

At an event Tuesday night the new owners said this is much more meaningful than just a buisness move: The father of Round Barn Winery owner Chris Moersch was the Tabor Hill winemaker for more than a decade before he left in 1992 to start the Heart of The Vineyard winery that was eventually renamed Round Barn.

The new ownership agreement began Wednesday morning and includes the restaurant and retail locations. Moersch says they intend to keep much of the current staff and drinks.
