Fisherman hanging from the side of his boat rescued in Cass County, Michigan

A fisherman was rescued from his sinking boat from Dewey Lake in Cass County on Wednesday.

Cass County Sheriff Richard Benke told ABC 57 the call came in around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday about a fisherman from Benton Harbor who was in the water shouting for help as he clung to the side of his boat.

The man was rescued by a Silver Creek Township police officer with help from a neighbor with a boat. The fisherman said his boat had begun to take on water and he was unable to get back to shore in time.

He was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac for treatment.
