Suspect in Elkhart backyard shooting death arrested in Kokomo

Elkhart police believe they have the man that shot and killed another man and left him dead in the backyard of a home.

18-year-old Car’nell Trass of Mishawaka was arrested in Kokomo Wednesday, according to the Elkhart Police Department. The U.S. Marshals and Kokomo police assisted Elkhart homicide detectives in the arrest.

Trass is accused of shooting and killing 56-year-old Quinncy Jackson of Elkhart at a home in the 300 block of 5th Street in Elkhart. Jackson’s body was discovered on June 3, one to two days after the shooting occurred, according to police.

Jackson’s death was ruled a homicide due to multiple gunshot wounds.
