Buchanan closer to passing medical marijuana ordinance in July

A vote on medical marijuana rules could be coming next month in Buchanan.

Monday, Buchanan commissioners went over a proposed ordinance that would lay out the rules for medical marijuana businesses in the Berrien County city. The rules outline permit application requirements, business standards, and how the city reviews, approves, denies, and revokes those permits.

The South Bend Tribune is reporting that community input will be gathered at a public hearing in July, and the ordinance could be approved later that month.

Under Michigan law, cities can start accepting applications for licenses for medical marijuana dispensaries.
