A Mishawaka woman has been sentenced to a minimum of 45 years in prison for beating her mother to death with a fire extinguisher.

60-year-old Annette Beedle agreed to plead guilty but mentally ill in the death of 85-year-old Mary Claypool of Mishawaka.

It was back on March 8 when Claypool was put on life support after Beedle beat her with a fire extinguisher, then called 911 and admitted to the crime. Claypool later died.

During court proceedings, Beedle’s attorney tried to justify her actions, saying that she killed her mother “to end her suffering.”
