Elkhart Police made a couple of robbery-related arrests this past week.

On Monday, June 10th, police were called to a Family Dollar on West Hively Avenue shortly before 10 p.m. The suspect showed a handgun and demanded money. After a short struggle, the suspect fled with nothing. Almost exactly a month later, surveillance photos were released of the suspect, and 19-year-old Laquavious Smith of Elkhart was later arrested.

Meanwhile, a home burglary suspect was arrested Tuesday. ABC 57 reports that two men entered a woman’s home on Hudson Street, pulled guns, and demanded money. The victim ran from the home and the suspects ransacked it, according to police. One of the suspects, 19-year-old Jacob Sims, was found nearby.
