80-year-old man run over by his own tractor in Cass County

An 80-year-old man was taken to the hospital after he was run over by his own tractor. It happened around 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 15.
Deputies with the  Cass County Sheriff’s Office were called to East St. in Marcellus Township on the report of a private property accident involving a tractor and a pedestrian.
The man was working on his property with a 2020 John Deere tractor when he was attempting to get onto the tractor, and lost his footing.
The tractor started to move into gear causing the man to get run over by the back tire of the tractor.
Family members who were on scene when the incident happened were able to call 911 and provide first aid  before emergency personnel arrived on scene.
Pride Care Ambulance was able to take the man to a nearby field where Medflight  then took him to South Bend Memorial Hospital for his injuries.
