We’re under one month away from the start of the Indiana high school football season and the completion of a major renovation at Penn High School‘s football field.

The South Bend Tribune reports that a $1 million-plus makeover of TCU Freed Field is expected to be done in time for the team’s Aug. 25 opener against Merrillville.

The makeover includes a new main entrance with ticket center that’s set further away from the parking lot for safety. There’s also new stairs for bleachers, a windscreen behind the bleachers, lighting upgrades, and a new bar fence with brick pillars that will adorn banners that will celebrate the team’s past championships.

The main entrance will still be on the east side of the stadium, but further north where more space is available. Robert Henry Corp. of South Bend has been in charge of construction.

Don’t forget, you can listen to every Penn High School football game live on 95.3 MNC and 953mnc.com, beginning with the season opener on Aug 18. at Valparaiso.
