Knox Community Schools experimenting with e-learning during snow storms

(Sarah Welliver/The Elkhart Truth)

Knox Community Schools are looking into a way to all but eliminate snow days.

Classes begin next week at Knox, and they will be implementing e-learning days this year whenever the weather keeps the kids out of the classrooms.

Knox Curriculum Director Peggy Shidaker tells ABC 57 this is the first year Knox has signed up for the program, which was established in 2014 by the state.

There will also be teacher online availability for the students working on the lessons, and e-learning will be limited to two consecutive days. Three or more days will result in days added to the end of the school year.

Knox will conduct a test-run of e-learning on September 1, and parents can learn more at Back To School Night on August 2, the day before classes resume.
