THE TOLL ROAD
Construction of the mainline travel lanes on the Indiana Toll Road has ended. Work continues on overpasses and interchanges, though, which may result in temporary lane closures in spots. (ends 9/2017)
IN ST. JOSEPH COUNTY
The following roads will be closed for two hours at a time this week due to repaving:
Dragoon Trail from Wenger to Beech Road
Elm Road from Layton Road to Jackson Road
New Road from Dogwood Road to Ash Road
New Road from SR 331 to Fir Road
Lake Trail from Town of Lakeville to Shively Road
Kenilworth Road from Tyler Road to Lake Trail
Leeper Road from SR 931 to Lilac Road
Lilac Road from Leeper Road to Rankert Road
Rankert Road from Lilac Road to Kenilworth Road
Watch for road painters on the following roads this week:
Auten Road from SR 933 to Ironwood Road
Juniper Road from Darden Road to Auten Road
Cherry Road from Anderson Road to Adams Road
Bittersweet Road from Cleveland Road to Anderson Road
Cleveland Road from Bittersweet Road to Ash Road
Ash Road from Cleveland Road to Anderson Road
Buckeye Road from Edison Road to Cleveland Road
Watch for crews working the U.S. 31 bypass near the Indiana/Michigan State Line in St. Joseph County through the end of the month. Traffic will be down to one lane in both directions. Plan extra time to get through. (ends 8/31)
It’s still down to one lane at the intersection of McKinley and Ash. Work on that whole area won’t wrap up until fall. (ends 9/2017)
Cleveland Road is closed at the toll road overpass. (ends TBA)
Work continues on Adams Road on the bike path from Canyon Ridge Drive east to Elm Road. Expect slowing traffic. Work will continue through the fall. (ends 9/2017)
IN MISHAWAKA
(NEW FOR MON) Expect delays on Main Street in the area of Indian Lakes and Douglas this week, due to repaving. You’re advised to plan an alternate route, if possible. (ends 8/11)
IN SOUTH BEND
(NEW FOR MON) Locust Road is closed about a quarter-mile from Prairie Avenue for work involving the new Four Winds Casino. (ends 8/12)
(NEW FOR MON) Bergan is restricted between College and Brookfield
due to sewer work. (ends 8/12)
Local traffic only at South Edison and Huron and South Edison and Ford Streets due to sidewalk and curb work underway. (ends 9/22)
Watch for lane closures at Lincolnway East and Ironwood due to repairs on the north side of the intersection. (ends 8/22)
Jefferson Blvd. is closed to traffic at Michigan in downtown South Bend.
(NEW FOR TUE 8/8) Watch for lane restrictions at and around the Corby/Rockne/Ironwood intersection. (ends late on 8/9)
IN ELKHART
(NEW FOR MON) The Main Street railroad crossing is closed now through late November due to work at the tracks. Northbound traffic should detour using Middlebury Street. Southbound traffic should detour using Lusher Avenue. (ends 11/22)
(NEW FOR MON) The City of Elkhart Street Department will close the following roads this week for paving:
- Monday: Lily Street from Baldwin Street to Beardsley Avenue.
- Tuesday: Toledo Road by Penzke, also Rowe Street from Middlebury Street to Toledo Road.
- Wednesday: Rowe Street from Middlebury Street to Toledo Road
(NEW FOR TUE 8/6) Watch for temporary lane restrictions at U.S. 6 and S.R. 120. Drivers are advised to keep a look out for lane closures, stopped traffic and flaggers directing traffic. (ends late on 8/9)
IN GOSHEN
Pike Street is closed between 2nd and Main Streets. (ends TBA)
IN KOSCIUSKO COUNTY
(NEW FOR MON) State Road 19 is scheduled to close at 6 a.m. between West Monroe Street and State Road 25 in Mentone for work at the railroad tracks. Work should be finished by late in the day on Aug. 15th. (ends late on 8/15)
State Road 19 is closed between West Eisenhower and Pearl Streets in Mentone. Detour using State Road 25. (ends in late Sept.)
State Road 14 is closing over Crazy Creek, which is about 2-and-a-half miles east of State Road 13. Use State Road 13 as the detour. Work should be done by late October. (ends in late October)
Traffic is down to one lane on State Road 15 on the bridge over the Tippecanoe River. Drivers are advised to use an alternate route or prepare for stopped traffic and delays in the area.
IN LAGRANGE COUNTY
Watch for construction crews on State Road 3 between U.S. 20 and S.R. 120, through the Town of Mongo. Watch for flaggers directing traffic. Work is expected to be completed by late summer, weather permitting.
IN MARSHALL COUNTY
It’s down to one lane in each direction on U.S. 31 at the bridge over Lincoln Highway, the Conrail Railroad Tracks and 10th Road, between 9A road and 11th Road in Marshall County through the end of September. (ends 9/2017)
IN PORTER COUNTY
U.S. 6 is closed between County Road 500 East and County Road 450 North in Porter County through the middle of September. Drivers traveling west are detoured onto State Road 39. Drivers traveling east are detoured onto State Road 49.
