A 16-year-old boy is being charged as an adult after he allegedly helped attack and rob a 74-year-old woman of her SUV.

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office has charged 16-year-old Demarco Groves with two counts: Robbery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury (Level 2) and Robbery Resulting in Bodily Injury (Level 3). He’s in custody at St. Joseph County jail on $50,000 bond.

The attack happened at 7:40 a.m. Thursday on Belmont Avenue. The victim was approached by the teenagers while moving items from one vehicle to another.

The police report says she was punched in the face and knocked to the ground. She made it to the front door and called to her husband, letting him know his Lexus was stolen and she’d been attacked. Officials say she faces a three-month recovery process.

The suspects were taken into custody at 8:40 Thursday night at Cedar Glen Apartments.

Besides Groves, three other juveniles were also arrested and taken into custody. Two 17-year-olds are charged with Resisting Law Enforcement. So is a 16-year-old, who is also charged with Possession of Marijuana. All of the charges are misdemeanors.

Lock them up and throw away the key! No point in attempting to “save” thugs like this. Lets see how thuggish they can be in adult prison with the other animals!
