Dowagiac man arrested in utility payment box theft case

An arrest has been made in a case were someone was stealing utility payments from a drop box in Dowagiac.

Garry Means was arrested on an unrelated warrant last week. On Friday, he was arraigned on charges he broke into the utility payment drop box between Pennsylvania and New York Avenues south of Commercial Street.

Means is accused of breaking into the box on August 7. Officers found the box damage and the contents inside removed.

He’s in jail on a $30,000 cash or surety bond.
