Five months after a fatal crash that killed a Mishawaka woman, the driver has been charged in her death.

38-year-old Christopher King is charged with a single count of causing death while operating a motor vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent of 0.15 or higher. That charge is a level 4 felony, which carries a 12 year maximum prison term.

The crash happened on the early morning hours of March 20 near the intersection of Riverview Boulevard and Cedar Road in Osceola.

Officers say it appears King was driving too fast before his SUV went airborne and spun into some trees, landing on its side in the historic Byrkit Cemetery. 39-year-old Heather Zurbuch of Mishawaka was pronounced dead at the scene.
