An Indiana State trooper has resigned and is arrested for sexual battery and sexual misconduct with a minor.

54-year-old Jack Hewitt had previously been on paid administrative leave during an investigation into allegations made by another law enforcement officer in August. He was arrested Thursday without incident and resigned the same day.

Hewitt started working for Indiana State Police in 1998 and had no prior disciplinary history. An initial court date has not yet been set.

He most recently served out of the Versailles post of the Indiana State Police.
