Elkhart was the scene for yet another outburst of violence Wednesday night as two people were shot.

Elkhart Police say the two people were shot at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday on West Garfield Avenue between Ashland and Prairie Streets.

One victim was still at the scene when police arrived. That person was taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend with serious injuries. A second victim walked into Elkhart General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Despite the recent rash of violence in Elkhart, officers tell ABC 57 they don’t believe this shooting was related to any other recent shootings, and that the victims were targeted.

If you don’t engage in criminal activities you seriously decrease your risk of being involved in a ‘targeted shooting’.
