A kindergarten student in South Bend claims that she was sexually assaulted on the bus by another child on the way home from school last week.

The mother of the victim says the girl was screaming hysterically when she got off the bus. WNDU reports that the alleged victim and perpetrator were both five years old, and the incident happened in the seat immediately behind the bus driver.

The driver claims he heard nothing, despite the girl’s claims that she loudly protested while the boy was touching her inappropriately.

The school corporation notified the mother that not all of the security cameras on the buses are operational, and the boy in question no longer rides the bus or attends school.
