Yet another serious crash on U.S. 20 in LaPorte County injures one

A Michigan City man is recovering after yet another serious crash along a dangerous stretch of road.

An SUV went off the road and hit a tree along U.S. 20 between New Carlisle and LaPorte at about 10 p.m. Tuesday. The South Bend Tribune reports that the SUV went off the right side of the road near Wilhelm Road and broke a tree in half during the crash.

A 42-year-old man had to be airlifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for treatment of serious injuries. U.S. 20 was closed in both directions for about 45 minutes.

Out of 15 motor vehicle deaths in LaPorte County this year, eight of them are on U.S. 20 so far.
