INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana Sen. Joe Donnelly says he opposes a last-ditch Republican effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
The Democrat said in a statement Wednesday that a bill by GOP Sens. Bill Cassidy and Lindsey Graham “would harm Hoosiers.” His statement follows Republican Gov. Eric Holcomb’s signing of a letter with 14 other GOP governors backing the proposal.
Donnelly called on the Senate to work in a bipartisan fashion to make improvements to former President Barack Obama’s health care law. Donnelly says the current proposal is a “partisan” effort that would force people to lose coverage and raise health care costs.
Indiana relies on “Obamacare” for the vast majority of funding for the Healthy Indiana Plan, which insures more than 400,000 low-income people. The Republican proposal would replace that money with block grants, which some estimates indicate would slash funding for the program.

The only Hoosiers that would be harmed are the people that that we pay for! When will these politicians look out for the tax paying citizen that goes to work everyday and does have insurance? I am starting to believe the other half have it right. Work part time or not at all with no worries because the idiots that go to work everyday will pay for everything. Donnelly should just go help tear down some more statues and bury our history so the younger generations will just think it normal that our country sucks! Joe is a fool to expect here is some kind of perpetual money machine. His campaign logo should be a unicorn.
Of course Joe opposes changing his idols health care proposal. He’s always been a safe bet for the left, he only pandered to his ‘constituency’ when his vote didn’t matter.
Time to send him packing. Back to NY where he belongs.
