Not long after the shock wore off, political leaders from every level seemed to express an opinion on the Las Vegas shooting that has left at least 58 people dead and hundreds more injured.
President Donald Trump addressed the shooting Monday morning.
2nd District Congresswoman Jackie Walorski was one of the first local leaders to respond to the shooting.
After the horrific shooting in Las Vegas, I’m praying for the victims, their families, the first responders, and everyone affected.

3rd District Congressman Jim Banks also expressed well-wishes.
Amanda and I are praying for a quick recovery for the injured and peace for the families of the victims in Las Vegas.

Republican Congressman Fred Upton and Republican U.S. Senator Todd Young have yet to make a statement on the shooting as of 1:10 p.m. ET, but U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly has.

South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, however, has been the most active of the leaders serving the Michiana area in responding to the shooting. His tweets have ranged from condolences to political activism.

I did not carry an assault weapon around a foreign country so I could come home and see them used to massacre my countrymen.

Responsible gun owners have been ready to have an adult conversation about common-sense gun policy for years. Congress, where are you?
— Pete Buttigieg (@PeteButtigieg) October 2, 2017
Saying we can’t discuss gun policies now is like saying we can’t discuss climate right now. It’s the worst kind of political correctness.

Pete Butt…because when evil people do terrible things it must be used to punish good people who don’t. Any excuse to start pushing your stateist petty tyrant policies. Don’t let a crisis go to waste. Gun deaths in Las Vegas are still way behind gun deaths in Chicago this year…a place where if restrictive gun laws work would be like Mayberry.
If you need 30 rounds to hunt you stink at hunting…if you need to disarm the citizens to govern you stink at governing.
Kudos to the rest of the politicos who commented and stayed on topic.
Mayor Butti is just practicing for his next political life in DC. Got to fall in line with the life time politicians we allow to make DC there permanent home.
