Clay football player recovering after “hard hit”

A Clay High School football player was hospitalized after what’s being described as a “hard hit” during a game against Riley High School on Friday, Oct. 6.

The sophomore player was pushed hard and fell, injuring the area around his neck, according to witnesses, as reported by 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

The game was called off after the incident, ABC 57 reported.

The player suffered a contusion to his neck and back, according to WNDU. He was released from the hospital after treatment.

Riley was leading the game, 69-0, with just under 4 minutes left in play at the time the injury took place, so both sides agreed to call the game, WNDU reported.
