Two people killed in crash on U.S. 20 near Rolling Prairie identified

A Michigan City couple died in a crash on U.S. 20 in LaPorte County.
The collision happened around 7:40 p.m. CDT  on Friday, Oct. 6, at Bootjack Road, east of Rolling Prairie.
The preliminary investigation from the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office found that a Ford Mustang was traveling east on U.S. 20 crossed the center line and struck a Honda Odyssey minivan traveling westbound head-on.
The LaPorte County Coroner’s Office says the crash killed the Honda driver Don Kaczmarek, 47, of Michigan City and his wife, Angie, 49. The sheriff’s office they were killed on impact.
The driver of the Ford, a 40-year-old New Carlisle man, was extricated from his vehicle and flown by Med Flight to Memorial Hospital in South Bend
Sheriff’s detectives and the Fatal Alcohol Crash Team were called to the scene for the investigation. Alcohol use is suspected and the investigators have requested alcohol and toxicology screening, the sheriff’s department stated.
U.S. 20 was re-opened to traffic at around 10:30 p.m.
