A 57 year-old professor from Southwest Michigan College accused of forcing a student to have sex with him has had his hearing delayed.

George Field faces four counts of Criminal Sexual Misconduct and, during the court appearance this week, the court says he had yet to obtain an attorney. The Cass County Prosecutor was ready to present witnesses for a preliminary exam, but since Field didn’t have an attorney at the time, the court felt he needed more time.

ABC 57 reports that a public defender has been assigned and the case is moving forward. Prosecutors also believe there is the potential for other victims in the case to come forward.

Field is expected back in court in two weeks.
