An attorney from Elkhart who also served as county commissioner and a police officer is running for Elkhart County Prosecutor.

Martin McCloskey announced his campaign for the seat on Saturday. It was no accident: the U.S. Air Force veteran wanted to make the announcement on Veterans Day.

During his Saturday announcement, he stated he vows to be more transparent than the current Prosecutor, Vicki Becker. He vows to post case results on the internet for the public to see. He also threw a jab at Becker, saying that her office lost six out of 11 child molestation cases so far this year, which he deemed “unacceptable.”

Becker announced her candidacy last week. She was appointed by outgoing Prosecutor Curtis Hill, who was elected as Indiana’s Attorney General.
