Toll Road crash near Notre Dame exit causes K-Cups to spread over road

(Sgt. Ted Bohner/Indiana State Police)

A crash Monday morning on the westbound Toll Road spilled K-Cups all over the road and backed up traffic during the morning commute.

It happened at mile marker 75 just west of the Notre Dame exit when a box truck and a semi collided. The semi had pulled over on the side of the road due to a mechanical issue when a Penske Truck Rental driver fell asleep at the wheel, according to police, and hit the semi in the back of the trailer.

The collision caused the trailer to split open and thousands of K-Cups to spill out onto the road. The right lane was closed while the mess was cleaned up.

The driver of the Penske truck was taken to the hospital, where his or her condition is unknown. The semi driver wasn’t hurt.
