Person found dead inside Elkhart mobile home that caught fire

An autopsy will take place on a person found dead inside a mobile home that caught fire.

Crews were called around 1 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 23, to the home in the 2900 block of Woodsage Avenue, according to a news release from the Elkhart Fire Department.

On arrival, crews found flames shooting out of the roof.

The fire was extinguished quickly and without difficulty from the exterior, due to part of the floor being burned through, the news release stated.

Once they got in, the found the victim. It’s beleived the blaze started in the living room.

As of Thursday night, there was no word on the cause of the fire.
