Racist graffiti discovered at Saint Mary’s College

Racist graffiti has been found at St. Mary’s College.

While the investigation is underway to discover the person or persons behind it, University President Jan Cervelli issued a statement saying hate and bias-related incidents, including the graffiti, occurred this past weekend.

She called the incidents an affliction that undermines the mission of high education.

She encourages the campus community to speak out against injustice, racism and bigotry and to support those who suffer from its effects.

I can’t wait for the follow-up to this story so I can add one more check mark in the ‘Hoax’ column of my hate crime scoreboard.

It would be truly shocking if in one of these cases, just one, the school or business did some investigation before trying to virtue signal to a group that may or may not be targeted. I get the knee-jerk reaction to try and get ahead of the apology game, but none of these schools or businesses ever follow up on the story and aplogize to the group they chastised (white people, generally) when it turns out to be a hoax.

Can anyone name a recent story involving racist graffiti that DIDN’T turn out to be a hoax?

What was the message? Why not print it in the story so we can all be “horrified” by it? How is this even a story if you don’t tell people what was written and labeled racist graffiti?
