A LaPorte County man is dead after a fatal crash Friday morning just south of the toll road.
The crash happened on County Road 400 north just east of County Road 50 west shortly after 3:30 a.m. Friday.
64 year old George Johnson Jr., who lives nearby in this rural area of the county, was driving eastbound and went off the road. His Jeep hit small multiple trees before flipping over end over end and landing upright about 200 feet away from the road in a corn field.
When officers arrived, they found Johnson lying near the vehicle, having been ejected from it during the crash.
Police are investigating what led to the crash.
