Man arrested, charged in brutal beating of his own mother

A South Bend man has been arrested on suspicion of beating his own mother.

The victim told investigators the fight began when she found her son, Gregory Pryke, 31, burning her VHS tapes in a fireplace, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

According to court documents, she said she told him to stop and he pushed her to the ground, hit, kicked and punched her for two hours, taking breaks to smoke.

The victim said during the ordeal he yelled at her for conducting an intervention with relatives to try to get him to stop drinking.

The woman escaped the home but blacked out, coming to at the hospital.

She suffered a concussion, possible skull fracture, sprained wrist, bruised eyes and a swollen lip.

Pryke is charged with criminal confinement and domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury.
