Marcellus man hospitalized after swerving to avoid hitting animal

A Marcellus, Mich. man was injured in a crash when he swerved to avoid hitting a small animal that darted into the road.

The collision happened around 1:50 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 28, on Lawrence Road near Marcellus Highway in Wayne Township, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver was traveling south on Lawrence Road when he swerved, losing control of the vehicle and hitting a tree.

The man was airlifted to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo for treatment.
