Troopers find over 120 pounds of pot during traffic stop on toll road

Two Indiana State Police troopers discovered more than 120 pounds of marijuana while on a traffic stop on the Indiana Toll Road.

The stop happened around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25, near the 22 mile marker.

Troopers observed a driver behind the wheel of a Dodge Avenger commit several traffic violations.

While the troopers spoke to the driver, Howard Montgomery, 46, of Rochester, New York and the passenger, Danielle Ruise, 32, also of Roshester, New York, they became suspicious.

With the help of Indiana State Police K9, Axel, troopers located approximately 121 pounds of suspected marijuana in the trunk of the vehicle.

Montgomery and Ruise were arrested on preliminary charges of dealing marijuana and were taken to the Porter County Jail.
