Shooting involving two vehicles reported in northwest South Bend

Police in South Bend are investigating an incident that happened Tuesday evening where people in two vehicles reportedly opened fire on one another.

It happened at about 5:30 p.m. near the intersection of Elwood Ave. and Obrien St. In addition to the vehicles, two houses were hit with gunfire. So far, no word on any injuries.

A vehicle with bullet holes was found nearby on Mayflower Rd., but police are still trying to determine if it was involved in the shooting incident.

Shell casings have been recovered and the investigation continues.
