Woman killed in snowmobile crash in Berrien County

A 43-year-old Michigan woman was killed in a snowmobile crash in Berrien County.

The collision happened around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3, according to Michigan State Police.

First responders were sent to a wooded area in the 4700 Block of Carmody Road in Hagar Township where they were guided to the Owosso woman’s body.

The initial investigation suggests the woman was ejected from the snowmobile and suffered a fatal head injury.

A 41-year-old Owosso man driving the snowmobile was taken to a Kalamazoo hospital with serious injuries to his back and pelvis. He was last listed in serious but stable condition.

The driver and passenger were not wearing helmets, according to Michigan State Police.

A Preliminary investigation at the scene suggests alcohol may have been a contributing factor, state police said.
