Pscholka out, Haight in for SW Michigan political races

There’s a new candidate for the 21st District seat in the State Senate that will become vacant for this year’s midterm election.

State Senator John Proos is stepping down due to term limits, and Democrat Ian Haight has added his name to the ballot. Haight is a former Hagar Township Clerk in Berrien County, and resident of St. Joseph County, is running for the seat. One of his key policies is healthcare.

Meanwhile, Michigan Budget Director Al Pscholka says he is not going to enter the race for the State Senate seat.

The Stevensville Republican, who was term-limited out of the State House last term, is stepping down as Governor Snyder’s budget director at the end of this month after the governor presents his budget to the Legislature on Wednesday. He says he has ruled out any run for office in the future.
