SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say autopsy results helped determine that an elderly northern Indiana man fatally shot his wife at their home before killing himself.

The bodies of 81-year-old Philip Wilmes and 80-year-old Barbara Wilmes were found Saturday at their home in the South Bend area.

The South Bend Tribune reports autopsy results released Monday showed Barbara Wilmes’ death was ruled homicide by gunshot wound while her husband died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Prosecutors say an investigation found no one else involved in the deaths.

Police found the bodies after being called to check on the couple.
