A school bus fight involving two students and a mother has gotten a lot of attention in South Bend.

The viral video showed a mother and daughter involved in a fight with another student. Now the mother is speaking out.

“I was trying to contact the parents, the mother. She didn’t want to talk to me, she blocked me, ignored me,” the mother told ABC 57.

She claims that her 11-year-old daughter had been receiving threats prior to the fight, and that she only went on the bus to tell the bus driver what’s going on.

“When we were even walking towards the bus, all the kids were standing at the front of the bus, so I felt everybody knew what was going on,” she said.

And she says her fears were realized when the girl attacked her daughter. She says she didn’t see the bus driver react, so she reacted and claims she tried to split the girls up.

“They was fighting and he didn’t do nothing about it so of course me being a mother, I got on the bus to protect my 11-year-old daughter. I was trying to break the fight up and the little girl hit me in my face,” said the mother.

South Bend school officials say that police are now handling the investigation, but have not offered any further comment on the incident to ABC 57.
