Indiana State Police say a Chicago woman was arrested after calling 911 early Sunday and reporting information dispatchers described as erratic.
Troopers located 42-year-old Meisha Thomas on Interstate 65 in Jasper County, driving between 30 and 50 miles per hour in a 70-mile-per-hour zone. Police say she swerved across lanes and caused other drivers to brake and take evasive action. Thomas eventually stopped in the left lane.
Police say Thomas showed signs of impairment and told a trooper she was driving home to Chicago from a casino in Gary. Investigators say she had traveled about 36 miles in the wrong direction.
She was taken to the Jasper County Jail and faces preliminary charges including operating while intoxicated and battery against a public safety official.
