Garbage truck explodes outside of Bristol Elementary School

A garbage truck exploded in Bristol Friday morning.

In fact, it exploded in front of Bristol Elementary School. It happened at about 10 a.m. Friday in the 700 block of Indiana Street, which is right in front of the school.

Elkhart Community Schools were quick to alert parents that there were no injuries to students or staff after the truck hauler blew up.


Pictures online show the back end of the garbage truck blown out and part of a wall in front of the school blown up.

Bristol Police and Fire were also quick to react and control the fire. It’s not known if the truck driver was hurt, nor what caused the explosion.
