An early morning bike ride proved fatal just south of Middlebury Friday morning.

Elkhart County Sheriff’s officials say the bicyclist was struck and killed by a pickup truck around 4 a.m. on State Road 13, just south of US 20 near County Road 20. The road is closed between County Roads 20 and 24 this morning.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of the family.
