Tornado sirens to be tested Tuesday morning in statewide drill

Don’t be alarmed when you hear tornado sirens going off Tuesday morning.

It’s Severe Weather Preparedness Week in Indiana and the National Weather Service will be overseeing a statewide test of tornado sirens. It will be held at 10:15 in the morning.

In addition to the tornado sirens, the National Weather Service will send a warning message on weather radios to test and make sure they work in case of an actual tornado.

The Severe Weather Preparedness Week is designed to make the public aware about springtime weather hazards like tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, and other hazards. Residents are encouraged to make a severe weather plan this week.
