Osceola agrees to deal with Penn Township for fire services

(Bill Beck/Elkhart Truth)

Osceola’s town council has agreed to merge with Penn Township’s Fire Territory.

The vote Tuesday night was unanimous, and means Osceola residents and businesses will no longer have to worry about fire protection.

The decision was a year in the making, and comes with an increase in yearly taxes in Osceola. Homes with a value around $100,000 can expect to pay roughly $47 more per year.

Penn Township is expected to pass the agreement as well, leading to an additional $27 tax that will fund the building of a new fire station.
