A South Bend man already in prison on a federal kidnaping charge is getting 62 years tacked on for robbery.

34-year-old Lindani Mzembe was sentenced to 62 years in prison for a home robbery where he was accused of holding a married Mishawaka couple at gunoint.

Mzembe was charged back in September 2014 with armed robbery and burglary after the robbery on West Battell Street in Mishawaka in August of that year. A mistrial was declared in June after a jury declared it couldn’t reach a verdict.

Mzembe was found guilty in a retrial in March.

An accomplice, Tremayne Grundy, was sentenced to 16 years after being caught with the gun. He’s already serving a 44-year prison term for a 2015 kidnapping and ransom.
