World Wrestling Entertainment held their 2018 Hall of Fame induction ceremony Friday night, and one of its inductees shared a funny story involving Notre Dame.
Hillbilly Jim was a big feature of WWE’s “boom period” in the mid-to-late 1980s, when names like Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, and Andre the Giant captured hearts around the nation. He’s long been retired and nowadays, hosts a radio show on SiriusXM’s Outlaw Country station.
Friday night in New Orleans, he made an induction speech and shared stories from his career. One of the stories was about a check he received for $87,000 around 30 years ago because his action figure was selling well.
He says, when he was handed the check, he was wrestling at Notre Dame.
