It’s minor injuries for an Elkhart Police officer who got into a scuffle with a bicyclist who was intoxicated.

Luckily, it was just a minor hand injury for the officer who arrested 24-year-old Forrest Howard. Police stopped Howard, who they say was showing signs of intoxication, early Sunday morning, in the 800 block of Johnson Street.

They say he was loud and disruptive and spit on an officer’s shoe when they told him to calm down. The injury happened when they say Howard resisted arrest.

Later, he made threatening comments toward the officers. Howard is charged with:

  • Battery on an officer (body waste)
  • Battery on an officer
  • Intimidation
  • Public intoxication
  • Resisting law enforcement
