A former IUSB basketball player has been found not guilty of rape.

Joseph Bannister was accused of raping a woman and sharing videos of the alleged assault on Snapchat in February of last year.

During an interview with investigators, he never denied having sex with the woman, but said it was the woman that came on to him and 20-year-old Phillip Corthen.

The South Bend Tribune reports the jury watched one of the Snapchat videos behind closed doors, with the state claiming the woman wasn’t “actively engaging.” Bannister’s defense said that was speculation and the jury can’t convict based on speculation.

A jury took just 40 minutes to come back with the not guilty verdict.

Corthen’s trial starts on Monday.
