A South Bend man allegedly attacked an officer with a LimeBike.

The suspect, Tommy Heflin, had a warrant out for his arrest and was discovered riding a LimeBike Tuesday.

Police say an officer ordered Heflin off the bike, but he refused, stating he wanted to “get rid of the drugs in his pocket” before being arrested.

The officer said no, and that allegedly caused Heflin to get off the bike, pick it up, and chuck it at the officer.

Heflin took off on foot, but the officer, who suffered minor injuries after being hit by the bike, caught up with him again.

Heflin then asked again if he could get rid of his drugs. Police refused again and say he had cocaine in his pocket and a pipe to smoke it with.

Heflin has an extensive criminal history. The warrant he had was for allegedly walking away from the DuComb Center this past September and not coming back as ordered. He also has multiple burglary, theft, and resisting law enforcement convictions dating back to 1996.
