Two shootings within two hours in South Bend on Thursday afternoon

South Bend Police are investigating two separate shootings that took place on Thursday, June 7.

Around 1:30 p.m., officers were sent to the area of Humboldt and Elmer on a ShotSpotter alert. As officers were responding, they saw a vehicle leaving the area and began to follow until it stopped at the hospital.  The victim, an 18-year old man was taken to surgery.

Then, around 3:25 p.m., officers were sent to the area of Carroll and Fox on a call of shots fired in the area.

When officers arrived, they could not locate a victim. A short time later, officers were notified a 24-year-old woman arrived at the hospital with an injury to the lower body.  The wound is considered non-life threatening.

Officers determined the shooting took place in the 2100 block of Carroll.

Both shootings remains under investigation by detectives with the South Bend Investigative Bureau.
