An Elkhart woman is going to federal prison for stealing thousands of dollars from a former employer.

49-year-old Kimberly McGuire was sentenced this week in the U.S. District Court of the Northern District of Indiana.

She was sentenced to seven years in federal prison for wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. She was also ordered to pay back over $584,000 in restitution to RC Industries in Elkhart.

Court documents say, from November 2012 to April 2017, she accessed the payroll system and logged in unworked work hours using the names of 140 former employees. She would then have the phony funds direct deposited in bank accounts controlled by her and her associates.

She also admitted to forging payroll checks.
